If you give all the wood a coat of cold tea and then let it dry, then paint another coat onto selected shingles, you will get a random effect, you can also use weathering powder on the tiles.[/quote]
Hi Nick, never used weathering powders, what would you have in mind?

Dave, get hold of a set of artists pastels, the coloured set. To make the pastels into chalk dust, simply rub easch pastel onto fine emery. I would suggest brown and green and maybe a little red. Blend them together either dry or make a thin wash. You can also use food colouring and make a thin wash with water, experiment Dave, it's good fun.

Hi folks, I'm back on line having had a bit of trouble with my tower unit. Been getting on well with the house truck, just a few detail bits to do and painting of the figures. I'll stick some photo's on tomorrow. Nick I've had a go at weathering with pastels but think I got a bit carried away. Still it's not shiney now!!!

The weathering photo's haven't come out to good as I used a flash. I'll do a couple more when it's daylight, but here's a few photo's of the progress so far. Needs a bit more green maybe?

The roof I'm quite pleased with, I ended up using some cardboard packing I got from work, Iwas a little woried how it would take the paint but it didn't come out too bad. Yes Nick I know it's too clean!!!! ;D

Here's a couple of views, getting near the end? Julie didn't like the blue windows so redone them in yellow but I think it looks to clean any ideas for doing flakey paint? I'll take it outside today (weather permitting ) and do some photo's in natural light. Just looking at that view from the back and realized I need a number plate.

Hi Dave, Caught up with the build after Nick mentioned on FB, awesome work especially like the interior & porch For flakey paint it might not give a texture/flake but the salt method will give a patchy effect, thread here how to hope this is helpful (i find cooking salt gives a better result) tinyurl.com/blgx8sp

Photo's done, here's a walk round I had planned to put a fold down table on the side in the last photo just in front of the porch entrance, perhaps see how work goes this week? Dave

Last lot, a couple of the interior. And lastly a view through a window, another job is to make Grommet a pair of knitting needles. Spotted a few white bits of plastic between the tiles, isn't it amazing how a photo shows up all the mistakes!! Dave
