How about a (fake) access hatch between the cab and van, similar to the US sleeper cabs? A square frame should fill the gap, keep the two parts in line, and help to maintain overall integrity.

Morning Malc, that's a neat idea I'll have an hour on it this afternoon before bed. (nights tonight)
When I got back yesterday the truck was still in one piece and not looking like the earlier bannana shape I showed you, so with a little luck that might be it?

I've just thought, you might have to strengthen the van's front panel a bit, to stop it bending inwards. Depends how much leverage it has to take.

Hi Malc, had a thought about your idea but decided to stick a window in instead. As you can see the body is coming on a bit For some reason the front view didn't upload to photobucket so I'll try again later. The chassis seems to be holding up pretty good!! Dave

Nick, you'll like this one. Whilst sat in a field in Norfolk Julie came up with the idea of using printed paper for the paneling on the floor and walls to save all that planking. It went on well and while we were down the beach (it must of been the hottest day in June) we came back to find!!!!!! Walls with loads of bubbles on it, So the next job is to strip the paper off buy a load of balsa and take the trailer tent back to Norfolk and start planking the walls. As Nick says it'll be fun!!!!!!! But on a bigger scale than the Bedford. Dave

Whatever you did, the structure looks nice and straight now. Good luck with the planking: you'll be pleased with yourself when it's done.

Hi folks, stripped off the wallpaper (sounds just like being at home!!) and planked the interior, it was a lot easier doing it in this scale than the Bedford, as you can see I put a couple of bits of furniture in just for effect. and to get a bit of motivation as things seemed to have slowed down a bit. I got me sums a little wrong and have got to raise the cooker a little as the interior of the mudguard has eaten into the floor space some how! Dave

Dave, have you been at the cooking sherry? ... Do you have a bubble in that level you've been using?

Just joking Dave, it looks brilliant. I have a suggestion for you, brew a pot of tea and let it go cold, then brush the tea directly onto the shingles, that'll weather them a treat.

Hi Nick, I was going to use a wood stain on them. Does the tea affect the the colour of the wood at all? ie darker/lighter ?
Depends on how long you let it brew for maybe?

Dave If you give all the wood a coat of cold tea and then let it dry, then paint another coat onto selected shingles, you will get a random effect, you can also use weathering powder on the tiles.
