Hi Guy's, As you will have seen form the old site I have gone and jumped the gun somewhat! Some info on my build has already been posted under the personal builds.
As mentioned my model will be the A35 van suitable modified to enable W&G to exercise their power of ridding the holiday weekend roads of pesky caravans. So with this in mind I chopped of the back of the van above the waistline and then chopped the back off that and then shoved the whole lot forwards to meet the front just aft of the front door B pillar. Some cutting and shutting was required to get the whole lot to line up and then a generous amount of filler and sanding to get it all to blend in.
I shot some GP primer by Dulux, our equivalent of your Halfords primer, some Tamiya Racing white on the interior and then six coats of Appliance White. It needed a sand down after the first three coats and then the second lot of three.
I've chopped the door windows down to have them partly wound down, then I need to cut the rear window to fit the new size opening but I may got for clear card or acetate for that ads the Airfix clear parts don't like being cut! Then I need to get the A badge and the other bits from my jeweler mate in Canada.
W&G have been suitably attired, Wallace has blue overalls and a dayglo yellow jacket with reflective (tape from Halfords) white banding and a peaked cap. In his right hand he is holding an oversized cheese sarny in the left he has a mug of tea which he is spilling in amazement at the butty's size.
Gromit has a similar vest and a flat cap, he will be sat on the now drop down tailgate.
I was thinking blue and white reflective panels (ala a police vehicle) over the van sides but can't find the blue tape! Red and white might be an alternative.
I need to source some traffic cones (anyone got any ideas, then my sis can bring them over in January?) for the load bed plus make a few items still to be decided upon.
I'm terribly sorry for having started so early but I had the idea and needed to get going.
I'll find the pics and if Nick would be so kind as to post them for me you can all see what I've been up to.
