Having recently been bitten by the "Beyond the Box" bug, I have been having a think about this "Need for Speed" theme. Having spent hours on the Playstation playing the game, I have come up with this. A "pimped" street racer with lowered suspension, wide arches, either scissor or suicide doors, led lighting underneath and a couple of large speakers in the back. This is the basic idea for the build using Halfords mobile phone holders as seats (as Nick and Mixxy are doing) and a wheel that I "borrowed" off my son's radio controlled car (must put it back before he comes home!!) The LEDs are just lying on the table underneath the van at the moment, but will stick to the underneath and should look better then. I need to try and get more of the the darker blue colour showing rather than the bright light in the middle, so that the glow rather than shine. Maybe some sort of diffuser would work. Just got to work out where to put the battery now!

This one has been abandoned for a while so I thought that I had better make an effort to get it sorted. Hopefully I can get it finished soon!! Here's the latest progress The wheel arches will have to stay as they are otherwise the wheels will be too far in and look silly. I have also decided to leave the doors as they are as the seats will get in the way of the hinges for suicide doors and the scissor doors are too complicated for me!! The suspension has been lowered as far as it will go without major alterations and I have had to cut out the rear arches to provide clearance for the wider wheels. More soon.

You're right Nick, I really need to crack on with this and get it finished. Hmmm, I wonder if those arches could be made wider? We could get a proper racing look then!!

Oh dear.......I've just searched for "racing A35" on Google Hmm..............I wonder if it could be done? Perhaps a little cut here, a bigger cut there, some plastic to patch it all up again and lots of filler!! Maybe, just maybe it might work!!! A little more research I think! Now where's the tape measure?

My OB rallied an A35 in historic rallying - 1990 Pirelli Marathon and the 1991 Monte Carlo Challenge ... You may find pictures of the car, but if you want any info let me know!

Ok, so I've decided to continue this build as a van conversion rather than converting it to a saloon car as I really want to get this finished before the end of this millennium!!! I have been trying to build up the bumpers to include front and rear splitters and have managed to add some front fog lights. new mirrors have been made from some old 1/24th truck ones and the seats have been chopped about to fit onto the kit seat frame The body has had a quick coat of primer to help show up any imperfections. Hopefully I should be able to get a top coat on it soon. More soon (I hope!!!)
