I've been looking through the Aardman spares box and so far I have a spare motorcycle side car body, Sean and a few bits of plastic card and a bottle of Woodland Scenics Snow ... ... there's an idea brewing ...

I've been into Hobbycraft today at Tamworth, couldn't resist buying a few bits and pieces for this build, really looking forward to spending a few hours of isolation from the christmas cheer ... bah humbug! ...

Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans? I did start it honest and I hope to get back onto it this weekend.

Sorry about the delay in posting this build, I had originally wanted to start this on Christmas day but life just gets in the way. Anyway, here we go. I decided to make this a small build as the last one grew and grew. So, I've used a 6x4 photo frame which I had tucked away in the stash. Here's the start ... ... as you can see the sleigh just about fills the base. The floor hasn't been laid yet but it will probably be a stone workshop base, anyway, I digress. As you can see I've used the pod again from the motorcycle kit and turned it around 180 degrees so that the seat would be in the front. To the pod I've added a pair of ski's modified from the rear bumpers of the van ... ... at this point I hadn't decided on which animals to use in the build and to be honest I'm still undecided. However, I finally decided to use Shaun or in this build he's known as Werner Von Baa ... ... here we see Werner looking over the installation of the 'Pulse' type propulsion system. Can't divulge much about the system as it's a bit hush hush but suffice to say the bit he's looking at is where the glittering trail in the sky comes from. So, next step is to design and install the magic dust hoppers, more soon ...

An hour or so in the shed this evening and the base is done ... ... I wanted to simulate a stone floor of some sort, I've used MIG City Dirt to stain the plastic in both a wet and powder wash and then rubbed in for effect. I've added a few more bits and pieces to the sleigh and here you can see Werner Von Baa as he inspects the pulse engine ... ... rather than build a hopper into the sleigh I've put the inspection hatch back on and I'll provide three containers on the floor with the remnants of the glitter, maybe have Timmy wandering around trampling glitter everywhere? I'm also tempted to build Bitzer wearing an eye patch, the ideas are still flowing for this this build and I hope to get some paint onto it as soon as I can, more soon ...

Remember when I said that this was going to be a quick build? ... Remember when I said that I was limiting the size of the base to ensure that it wouldn't grow and grow? ... yer right! The base is done and I looked at the sleigh and thought that it would be good to have a launch ramp ... ... OK ... so then I thought about a fuel supply for the sleigh, here it is to the bottom right awaiting connection ... .. I may be some time ...

More progress for this afternoon ... The power plant has been painted and the fuel feed has been connected ... ... the big red navigation lamp has been fitted to the front of the sleigh ... ... and a volunteer test pilot has been found ... Just thought, I haven't used the big hand?

I've been a tad busy this week but I've been working on this tonight. Von Baa is painted and Timmy is primed. Gromit will be completed ASAP and then I can start to position all the bits and pieces and get a few photographs. First outing will be Huddersfield.

Not taken the pics yet Andy, waiting until I can paint Timmy and Gromit and then I'll do the final pics and adjust positions of the animals. There may be other additions?

Slight hold on this build for a week or so whilst I finish off my last build for a magazine which is well overdue. The sleigh will have it's first outing as a completed diorama at Huddersfield.
