I've had an idea for next year - and seeing as how I have one or two of these models stashed ... thought I would join in. Been waiting for inspiration for a while, and finally got it in the pub in Telford ;D last weekend! Got to do a bit of homework to make sure I can (a) scale my idea to 1/12 and (b) fit it on a 16 x 12 'baa'se. Will not start until after 25 Dec - if it is a goer!

Plans are afoot - I've checked it for size, and I think it may be a goer ;D ... "The Hafner Rotabuggy was a British experimental aircraft that was essentially a Willys MB combined with a rotor kite, developed with the intention of producing a way of air-dropping off-road vehicles." Well, we'll have to see what W & G, Shaun and Bitzer can make of this! I don't trust the pigs either! Until December!

I trust you're using the Sean the Sheep Landrover as a donor for this build?

Yes - and that's as far as I've got at the mo It's either: Make the tail bit out of plastic card, or make a framework up and cover it with material. Perhaps when I've got the box down from the attic stash and decided on the actual size of the tail it will all come apparent I do hope so! Now, all I need is one of the Gromit pilot figures to 'fly' it!

It didn't take long, did it? Actually it wasn't time - it was about 3 pints and a roast dinner!!

I was thinking about what being a member of this SIG for less than a month can do to you. By the way, pilot Gromit will need a cushion.

Thank you Mad Malc - I'll take that as a compliment! Please don't forget that I'm a North Somerset Modeller ... even if a more conservative Hampshire one! You may remember the Red Sparrows? Bertie Bassett? The use of colour as a medium on model club stands at Telford? Once an idea is hatched, then we go for it ;D ;D ;D This was my first - think it was 2008! Appalling photo - but it gives the idea! And I'll let you into a small secret, I had been looking round for plans to do this to a 1/35 Jeep, so it was on my mind anyway! And, don't worry, I really am joking!

Some research - as we were at The Museum of Army Flying last weekend. I didn't realise just how long the rotor blades were! So, looks like it's a goer! Mind you after all those characters have had a go ... it may fly!
