I was having a discussion today at the Southwell show with Ian, Pat and Paul about the display for SMW. As the theme this year is 'Camping and Caravaning', I feel we need a few suitable holiday accoutrement's interspersed amongst the display, providing we have enough room. Ideas so far are ...
Blow up Palm Tree which I believe Paul has somewhere? Bucket and spade and flags 'Kiss me Quick' hat Lobster and crabs
... any further ideas?
I've suggested that on one of the days, probably Saturday that we get involved with the thingyness of it all and wear Hawaiian shirts, Paul, Pat and myself are up for that one, anyone else?

Bucket and spade? Have you tried camping on a beach? It's near impossible to get the tent pegs to stay put! But then, I'm towing a caravan behind Gromit's aeroplane.....
Christine has made me a suitable shirt, and matching hat. And I've got some bright shorts. You once said sandals with socks. OK.

Well hopefully you got your builds finished in time, as usual I too mine down to the wire, but it's done. Looking forward to seeing you all again and don't forget to leave a space in whatever transport you're travelling in to pack all those models Airfix are returning.
Now then, about next year ...

Hi Nick - well done on your super quick build.
Mine is almost there, just a few little bits to finish off tonight. I will also do some name cards like we had last year so that the name of the model can be displayed.
Cheers
Richard C See you tomorrow.

Well, another year over and a superb display once again. My thanks first to Paul Fitzmaurice of little-cars for his continued sponsorship for the SIG. Ian Sadler was the recipient of the trophy this year for his caravan repair van, there were several comments overhead from visitors about the ingenious propulsion system. There were 9 models on display this year, slightly less than usual but they provided a superb display as usual. 6 of the exhibits are on the way to the Hornby visitor centre at Margate as replacements for the 34 models which Airfix returned after a 12 month stint on display.
Well done to everyone once again and I'm looking forward to the 2013 mayhem.

Congrats to Ian. Here's something to embarrass you. Serves you right for being so clever!
