Time to start thinking about the 2013 build and I have a couple of suggestions. We've attempted several wacky builds over the past few years so how about 'Nursery Rhymes'? ... if that doesn't float your boat, how about Kids TV? or should we just have an open category next as we did for the first build? ... let's have your thoughts folks.

In the past I've suggested 'Great Moments in History', and for the more serious side, I remember agreeing with someone else's idea of military vehicles in civilian use.

I think an open build would be a great idear, especially as it would bring in 'new blood' but i recon you still need a theme of some sorts to guide folk.

In the past I've suggested 'Great Moments in History', and for the more serious side, I remember agreeing with someone else's idea of military vehicles in civilian use. yes Pat and myself suggested the 'converted from military use' as a theme. this would include land, sea and air (damb them wingy things lol) it would open a huge range of builds covering many genres. |

If the build theme was 'Open' everyone could build what they wanted. For instance, I have two builds I would like to complete, one with a fire theme and one with a military theme, I also have another which was destined for the 'Olympic' bild but failed to appear due to other build commitments.

You never mentioned that you liked fire engines.......  This conversation has developed further on the IPMS forum, where the ideas of an Open Aardman display and Civilianised military stuff sounds OK to me. |

OK folks I think we have the nucleus of a plan for 2013. The main build theme will be 'Open', this should allow everyone the chance to let their imagination run riot.
It's been suggested that we should have another reasonably normal build to run in parallel to the usual 'Beyond the Box' lunacy. One of the suggestions was to show military vehicles in civilian use and I think this is a crackin idea. So, military vehicles in any scale converted to use in a civilian role, now that should leave lots of scope for ideas. Further news and rules for the 2013 builds after SMW 2012.

I've been looking through my collection of part builds and I've found some crackers which will be pulled out for the 2013 season. I'll post the rules for the 2013 build after the current SMW.
