Just been for a visit to the Dolls House Emporium at Ripley and because of the amount of work I have to do to detail the caravan, I've decided to make a couple of changes to the build. I'm going to scratch build? ... well, you'll just have to wait and see. Somewhere in the electronics stash I have the flickering light of a camp fire which was left over from a previous build, pictures ASAP!

The final mayhem has kicked in. Got the primer on the bike and the first coat of shiny red paint, however, there seems to have been a bit of a reaction, possibly because it's cold or possibly impatience. Not to worry, improvise, it will be a dirty bike rather than a shiny one ... moving on!
The base has been covered with scatter grass as a basic feature, wood and stones will follow, maybe a pond if I have time, photos to follow when I take a breath!
Now to plan and build the secret ingredient, the caravan shell I have will need rather a lot of work to prepare and kit out, so I've decided on plan 16a ... another improvisation, more on this as the ideas are transferred from the grey matter onto plastic card.
... more soon!

Well actually the paint doesn't look that bad (from a distance), but I won't be repainting it so the weathered look will have to do. I've started to detail the engine just to give a touch of contrast. The base is dry and I've added a pond, now I need to look for a few little animals, now where did I put the bunnies? Not a bad first day but tomorrow I need to start on my surprise build ... you'll have to wait a little until I get it set in my head what it's going to be like. More soon!

Hi Nick, what did you use to paint the engine?

Hi Nick, what did you use to paint the engine? Vallejo Model Colour 'Gunmetal', and then 'Steel' for the foot controls as a contrast.

Sprayed or brushed? There acrylic aren't they? Yes they're acrylic Dave. Brushed this time, the engine would have been better painted out of the frame but I love a challenge ...

Watch out for those ... too late and poor old Gromit is in the air, but I'm not showing you that yet. Well that's it for day 2, I've brought the baseboard in by the fire to dry. The bike has had its wheels primed and the headlight added, the surprise build is erm ... built, primed and painted. I've decided not to place any other animals in the build, well, maybe a rabbit? I'm going to fill the base with bits and pieces, you'll see some of them tomorrow possibly? I now have a rough idea of the scenario and day 3 will see most of it put in place.

Day 3 of the mayhem and I'm not happy with an item on the base, the pond will have to be redesigned, so it's into the shed this morning for some dremel and scalpel action. After that, the paint pot and the airbrush and after that? ... oh I'm sure I can find something. ... Coffee!

Day 4 of the mayhem and the last day of tinkering. I'm concentrating on adding a few bits and pieces to Gromit's chariot today and getting him into a final resting place on the base. There's a space on the baseboard for something and I'm going to have a firk around in the workshop for a suitable figure, well, a bloke can change his mind can't he? The bike wheels require painting and also Wallace and Gromit require painting, better get on with it, but first ... coffee!

End of day 4 and it's almost done. Wallace has been painted and Gromit will be done first thing in the morning. The bike requires weathering and once that's done Wallace can be secured to it. There's a bit of work to do on Gromit's chariot but all being well it should all be finished late afternoon tomorrow. One of the pigs has come to have a look at all of the commotion and almost lost his pizza ... ... more tomorrow

Day 5 and final day of the mayhem and it's an early start. Still not happy with the poisitioning of one of the major parts of the diorama so a serious think over a hot coffee. It has to be finished today so final painting and weathering on the bike. Lots to do so I'd better get on with it.

It's done ... ... this pic was taken shortly before I addded the decals but apart from that, this is how it looks. I was going to add another animal with the Pizza pig but decided against it. I can't believe this build was achieved in 4 days, looks like I need to start using my time better. Ah well, this build is done, after SMW I need to start planning the next one ...
