How about these little characters as a replacement theme for the Airfix 'Aardman' kits?
... I bought two of them at the Birmingham show from Paul Fitzmaurice of little-cars. Each figure is approximately two inches tall and there are three different figures at the moment. As soon as I can I'll take photographs of the figures and post them on here.
Since the SIG began we've concentrated on the Airfix Aardman series of kits, predominantly 'Wallace and Gromit'. The kits are now becoming harder to find at a reasonable price and although I have a reasonable stash of these kits, I think it's time for a change. So, the 2013 SMW show will see the last of the major Aardman builds. As you can see from the banner picture I believe I've found the ideal replacement, the Minions from the film 'Despicable Me'. There are three figures at the moment but in true 'Beyond the Box' style I have a plan which will be revealed at SMW 2013.
2014 - A Challenge! ... As you may have read in previous posts there are changes on the way for the 'Beyond the Box' SIG. Since the SIG formed we have concentrated on converting the Airfix/Aardman series of 'Wallace and Gromit' kits, these are now becoming harder to source and are also becoming more expensive and I think it's time we had a change. You may have guessed the theme of the 2014 build, well, I've given enough hints so here it is ... the main build theme for 2014 will be the Minions from the film 'Despicable Me'.
The challenge? ... use your imagination to build a Minion using the plastic container from a 'Kinder Egg'. I'll purchase a small number of these and provide them as a free issue (you can keep the chocolate and the gift inside), in return I want you to build a Minion from scratch. It can be any Minion, the choice is yours. I'll provide further rules at SMW, but the seed has now been planted so thinking caps on ...
Mmmmmm chocolate .... there's the thing - is this just an excuse to eat (more, in my case) chocolate? I like this idea ... Did I happen to mention that I like chocolate? ;D I may need inspiration ...
Harriet, I hate to see you struggle with your conscience, therefore I'm prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice, just give the chocolate to me and I'll eat it for you.
